I started the idea for this blog last year. As a 2012 resolution. We are now coming up on November and it only took a raging bout of influenza forcing me to stay home to get me going on this, so I'd say I'm doing pretty good.
Truth is, I would have started this sooner but I've been too busy banging my head against the wall. I bought a house, by myself. Yup, on my own. A fixer-upper to be exact and not much has gone right in the process, except, well, that I now have a house that I have grown to really love.
I just turned 29 and work as an art director at an ad agency. I grew up in southern California and decided to venture the 20 miles Long Beach for college. After college decided to stay and buy a house. Here. In Long Beach. And root myself. We're talkin deep, deep roots folks.
The purpose of this blog is this: there are a lot of great DIY/house-fixer-upper/design/style/I-can-renovate-this-myself blogs written by COUPLES. And as cute as that may be, there have to be other single ladies (let me hear you) out there buying houses and fixing them up without a live-in handyman. This hasn't been easy folks. There have been a lot of tears over stuff that seems to make everyone else laugh.
I've had a lot of crap happen here and now you're gonna hear about it. But also the fun stuff I do here and the awesome ways I want to decorate, so you know, it's not a total downer. Welcome aboard, enjoy the ride. It won't always be pretty. Elsie
This is what naivety looks like.
